DIY Headboard

This headboard actually started out as a closet door.  I thought I would try to Modge Podge a paper over it, to give it a print.  However, after about 2 months, I decided I wanted real furniture.  So when I had to come up with a headboard for my spare bedroom, I thought of that one sitting in the garage.

I peeled off the paper, and went to Hobby Lobby to get some foam, and used some leftover fabric from my curtains from fabric.com.

I cut the foam to go over the edges of the board. Next, I used adhesive spray to spray the foam on.

Next, I stapled the foam on.  I think it might have been better if I cut the foam to the exact size of the board, but because my board used to be a door, it had hollow ends.

Then I stood the headboard up, and placed the fabric on.

I stapled one, while it was still standing to hold it in place, and then laid it on the ground.

I stapled, and stapled, and pulled tight, trying to keep the pattern, semi even. This would probably be a lot easier as a 2 person project, because then you could leave it standing up.

Finally, I stood it up and tightened any spots that looked funny.

Then I placed it in the room. Now I need to decide what kind of bedding to get.... Suggestions?!

  1. I agree...some kind of gray print would be cool. I love quilts right now.
