Patio redo

My patio railing has changed a lot over the last few years. When I bought the house it was stained a red color. I wasn't loving it, and after a few years, it was starting to fade. 

I decided I wanted to paint it white. We used a paint brush and got one coat on right before I had a 4th of July party in 2010. I never got around to finishing the 2nd coat. So, the paint started to look really bad. 

My table also had seen better days, so early this spring, I replaced it. This made me want to do more and finally finish the railing.

My lovely handyman, Kent, came to the rescue! He power washed the railing and replaced a few boards.

Then we got out the magical paint sprayer! I'm telling you this made the spindles 10,000 times easier!

The steps never got the white paint and had really worn. They were going to get the new blue too!

I love it! It really has brightened up the patio. 

Mother Earth Paint Dresser Makeover

One of my friends asked me to help her paint her dresser. This time I tried out Mother Earth Paint. It works very similarly to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. However, it is more natural.  

You do not need to prep the surface, however, she did, because she wasn't sure how she was going to paint the dresser at first. Sanding it made it soak up paint a lot more! 

We wanted to keep the keyhole hardware, so we taped over it and used an exacto knife to cut around the keyhole. 

We used 2 small sample sizes to cover the dresser. This paint can be watered down, and it can cover a little more!

To distress you can sand it or use handi wipes. The handi wipes need a little more rubbing, but leave a nice distressed look. Finally, I covered it with a wax. 

Chatroom Grey Kitchen

Bye, Bye, Bye ...

Red wall is gone! I was afraid to paint over it, but the guy at Lowes gave me an awesome primer, Zinsser Bullseye, that worked great! He tinted it grey and it worked like a charm! My new color is from Sherwin Williams and is called Chatroom.

It makes my walls look crisp and clean!

The color is kind of hard to pick up in pictures, but it makes the room look so much better!

Pantry Make Over

I loved the color I used on my mom's laundry room.  I wanted it in my house. I thought about where I could put it. My pantry was the perfect place.  I spent an afternoon painting and adding a few details.

After: I'm still working on the organization factor of the pantry. I wish it was bigger. So, I'm not going to show you the whole thing!  

Floor boards!! Yay! Before, the walls were just bare and dirty! 

I already had the chalkboard in my pantry.  I used chalkboard paint to tape off the size of my frame.  My frame was a thrift store frame, that I spray painted green. 

I made labels using the Cricut for my trash, recycling, and glass recycling. I also bought and labeled sugar, flour, etc containers. 

I made a plastic bag holder. I sewed a rectangle, and then added elastic at the bottom and then sewed it into a tube shape, and added a handle.
