Friday Funnies- Cologne

Yesterday morning, I was greeted by a 5th grade boy covered in cologne.  It started with a report:
"Miss Cremer, her nose is burning, because it smells so bad. Its making her have asthma!"

So I had a little talk about smelling good and wearing deodorant, but not smelling too good and spraying the whole bottle of cologne.  The comments I got back were pretty good.

"It smells like the perfume isle at Hy-Vee in here!"

"I've been wearing deodorant since I was 7, so I have experience with that kind of stuff!"

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Quinoa

Between my garden, the block party, and random food I have cooked in the past few weeks, I had a lot of veggies to use up.  In my quest to find recipes for cucumbers, lots of my friends said to make quinoa.  So I gave it whirl.  The measurements in this really don't matter, whatever you like the most, put more of that in! I think it turned out pretty good!

Ingredients:
1 cup quinoa- rinsed
cucumber
tomatoes
kalamata olives
yellow pepper
red onion
salt & pepper
feta cheese
lemon juice from 1/2 lemon
2 T olive oil

Directions:
Cook quinoa according to package.
Chop all veggies (about 1/4 cup of each).
Once quinoa is cooled, add the veggies, olive oil, lemon juice, feta, and salt and pepper. Toss together.

Let marinate for a few hours.  This makes A LOT!

Cucumber Salsa

My garden has exploded with cucumbers.  You can only make vinegar with cucumbers so many times. So I went to Facebook, and asked for new recipes.  My friend Ashley sent me this one! It's a keeper! The cucumbers make the salsa cool, fresh, and refreshing!

Ingredients:
2 cucumbers, peeled, sliced into small pieces
1 package ranch seasoning
1 can Rotel
3 T vinegar.

Directions:
Mix together and let sit over night.  Serve with tortilla chips!

Stay tuned for more cucumber recipes!

Bacon Green Beans

Bacon. Beans. Butter. Brown Sugar. Who knew those 4 ingredients together could be so yummy!? I wish I didn't make the chicken to go along with these. I could have made this my meal!

Last week, I was at the farmer's market and couldn't pass up fresh green beans for $2.  I have been wanting to make the bacon wrapped green beans again, but then I found a simpler way to make them.

Ingredients:

1-2 pounds fresh green beans
6 pieces bacon
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
garlic salt, to taste

Directions:
In a large skillet, fry the bacon over medium heat until done. Drain grease, and slice bacon into smaller pieces.  Add butter and brown sugar to pan.  Once the brown sugar has dissolved, add the green beans and bacon to the pan.  Cook for 5-8 minutes.  Enjoy!

Big & Little

In the month of October I have 3 friends that are having little girls! I put my Silhouette to work to make some Big & Little outfits.

My mom bought me a new label maker that can print out iron on labels!

Aren't these dresses so cute? I thought they were perfect for 2 & 4 year old big sisters!
I found them at Hobby Lobby.

Of course they needed a flower clip too!
Can't wait to meet the little sisters!
