Baby E's Room: Nautical Sea Monster Nursery

I'm SOO excited to finally share this post! I've been waiting for my niece to get here, so I didn't spoil her big name reveal!  July, I flew out to California to help my sister decorate her nursery for her little girl. She wanted a nautical sea monster theme, and I think we nailed it!
Frames are from Goodwill, Anchor & E, and Octopus are from Hobby Lobby.
Barrel that we turned into a hamper. Barrel is from a store online, and netting is from Michael's.

The dresser and ships wheel were garage/estate sale finds. Lamp is from Target.

They got married on a boat and this sign was there. I recreated it using reclaimed wood, vinyl, and an octopus my sister had bought.

This E started out much different, but it was on sale, so my sister bought it. Once I had taken off the old embellishments, there was a huge hole. I made this octopus using buttons from my grandma's house that my sister had. I printed off a coloring book page, and hot glued the buttons in it. I then used the Silhouette Cameo to cut out the outline in card stock.

Her favorite peek-a-boo bear from Aunt Joanne.

This rug is sooo soft!

This is what the gallery wall looked like before I painted the stuff.

Pink Dresser

My sister is an expert garage sale/estate sale shopper. She texted me a picture of this dresser that she found at an estate sale.  It was perfect for the pink dresser I had dreamed about for Little G's room. It was $150. But, it would go half price at noon. She decided to risk it and wait until noon. A little before noon she came back, and it was still there. She sat on it and waited until noon. Another lady was stalking it as well, so Becky just kept waiting. She even went a little early to the register and said she wanted to take this dresser and the one that matched it. She snagged them both for $120.
The drawers are huge, and the top is perfect for a changing table.
She bought a can of Annie Sloan Scandinavian Pink Chalk Paint, and when I arrived in Cali, I got started! We wiped it down and took off the hardware. That was all the prep that it needed!

It took 2 coats of paint, but it turned out awesome!

Nursery Reveal is tomorrow!

Front Porch Makeover

How I wish I would have taken a picture of my sister's front porch before. It had a bike, gas can, cooler, hose, leaves, and a few dead plants. With a new baby coming she needed a spot to rock the baby. I wanted to make it a welcoming spot for her and Grandma to rock.

Lots of cleaning, sweeping, and moving stuff was involved.... but after that, a run to Michael's, IKEA, and Marshall's and it was ready to go!

Previously, there was no wreath at all.

IKEA table painted with spray paint.

Friday Funnies

I haven't had a Friday Funny in a while!

Today we were doing a salt water experiment. We had to write out the scientific method, starting with a question, research, hypothesis, etc.

I did this lesson with 2 classes. These were my favorites:
~Miss Cremer, we live in the middle of Kansas, how are we going to get salt water?

Me: Class, what does a hypothesis always start with?
Most of the class: IF!
One child: H!

HUGE Gallery Wall

This is the wall at my Sister & Brother-In-Law's house.  They started out with about 30 pictures, only where they could reach. While I was there we hung them up and framed a few of the big ones. I think it turned out awesome!

OSU onesie

This little ruffle butt onesie & burp cloth turned out sooo cute! While it is not my favorite team, I think Baby W will look great in it. I used my new ruffle foot to make the ruffles. I wish I had a surger to finish the edges, but instead, I folded the fabric over, ironed it and then sewed it. Then I made the ruffles and sewed them on to the onesie.

This little diva got 2 matching bows!

I used fabric and heat transfer vinyl to make the football.

Tri Delta Onesie

I made this for a future Tri Delta. I think it turned out so cute! It took me a while to weed out all of those little details, but it was worth it!
